My Beyond the Sea e-book is part of the Malabrigo Freelance Pattern Project. It contains the six patterns listed below (coming soon!) — two sweaters; a shawlette; a convertible shawl which can be worn as a shrug, vest, or stole; a pair of lace knee socks, and a cowl. The designs in this collection are inspired by the sea and are suitable for year-round wear.

The collection is available for $16.95 on Ravelry, and individual patterns are available for $5.50.

Ballena Shawlette

Ballena is a breezy shawlette ideal for year-round wear. It is shaped to drape comfortably and gracefully over your shoulders and stay in place. Eyelet trim along the neckline edge and instructions for making pedestal buttons offer the option of buttoning the neckline in a variety of configurations. This shawl can be knit with Malabrigo Silky Merino, as seen in the Smoke colorway, or in Arroyo, as seen in the Jupiter colorway.

Coralino Cowl

Coralino is a soft layering piece, worked in the round in reverse stockinette stitch. It is perfect for pairing with winter coats and sweaters and is light enough to be worn with summer dresses on cool evenings.

Marea Tunic

Marea is a simple tunic worked in the round from bottom up. Lace detailing on the center front and sleeves adds a bit of easy elegance without being fussy. The A-line shaping of this piece makes it flattering to all figure types.

Oceana Tunic

This tunic is constructed of two rectangles worked side to side. Knit in fingering weight yarn at a loose gauge, this top is lightweight, drapey, and perfect for layering. Pleats and buttons circle the lower half of the tunic and are arranged on the diagonal, rising from hem to waistline. This project is great for anyone wanting to ease their way into sweater-making, or for those wanting a simple wearable top with a bit of detail.

Oleada Convertible Shawl

Oleada is a simple rectangular shawl inspired by the waves of the sea. It is designed to be worn in a variety of ways. Wrapped around the shoulders like a traditional stole, or buttoned in several different configurations — at the sides to form a shrug, in front as a cape, or up the front and back to be worn as a vest.

Rambla Socks

Rambla is named for a wide promenade that hugs the shore in Montevideo, Uraguay (the home of Malabrigo Yarns). Lacey with a zigzag panel along each side, these socks offer abundant style with minimal knitting effort — all the shaping occurs within the side panel. The lace continues to the toe, creating a fetching pair of stockings that are perfect for stepping out.
